Train in the pool with Freedive Cornwall
Freedive Cornwall run a weekly pool training session right through the winter at Helston Pool in Cornwall. Come along and learn how to improve your breath hold, and swim further on one breath.
Working with like-minded buddies, this is your chance to really improve your freediving abilities - whether for competing, spearfishing, photography, getting tumbled when you're surfing or just for the fun of it. Each week we practice Static and Dynamic Apnea - sometimes working hard and really concentrating, sometimes having a bit more fun, it depends on the mood...Sessions run at Helston Pool on a Monday night from 9-10pm and cost £7.50 a session or £25 for four booked in advance.
To sign up, please email us.
Before you join us in the pool we'll ask you to complete at least the pool and theory part of our Beginner Course (AIDA 2* Level). In the winter, we run a single day, 2* Pool Course (usually Saturday) taught in Falmouth and Helston.. This covers all the theory and pool activity from the AIDA 2* Freediver Course. The 2* Pool Freediver course costs £150. The next date is 14 April 2012 - again send in the form or email us if you're keen.
In your initial pool training, you'll have a go at Static Apnea. You'll find out just how long you can hold your breath and learn a few breathing and relaxation techniques to get you started. We'll also cover Dynamic Apnea, how far you can swim in the pool in a single breath - and of course, in both these categories, you will learn safety techniques and how to be a good buddy to someone else. This will give you all the skills you need to join us in the weekly pool sessions we run through the winter.
From April to October, we run full AIDA 1 and 2 Star courses including classroom, pool and sea or lake based training. Details of those are here.
If you're not local to Helston, Cornwall (and quite frankly not many people are!), we have friends training in pools all over the country. Just ask and we'll try and put you in touch with someone nearer to you.
Whatever your reasons for wanting to improve your breath-hold, we are sure we can help. Do get in touch if you'd like to join us.
See you soon
Sam and Freedive Cornwall
