EFR Primary Care and Oxygen Provision

All our freedive courses include at least some rescue skills, but every freediver should also be fully up-to-date with First Aid and CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) practices.

Our Emergency First Response (EFR) Primary Care course will give you a thorough grounding in handling medical emergency situations, giving first aid and carrying out CPR. Practising on mannequins, and on each other (not CPR!), you'll learn how to make sure the scene is safe, conduct CPR, handle serious bleeding and spinal injuries and administer oxygen.

We run the course by a mixture of self study, knowledge development, skill development and scenario practice in groups. It's serious stuff but it's all good fun - it's skills you'd want your buddy to have so make sure you have them too!

The course takes a full day from 9am to about 3pm so you can also get some diving in. Alongside the general EFR content, we'll include some specific freedive scenarios and make sure you can use our own oxygen kit. If you've done one of these before, it's a course that should be updated at least every two years - and there have been quite a few changes recently so now's a good time. We run one when we have a few people interested.

The cost of the EFR course including all course materials and certification fee is £85. This includes a manual to keep so you can refresh your knowledge any time after the course. For more details, and to sign up, check the links on the right.

SaltFree Divers can also offer First Aid at Work, EFR Instructor, EFR Secondary Care and Care for Children courses on request, please email for details.
