The Details

Double Dip 2010 runs over 2 days - 25th and 26th September 2010 at the National Diving and Activity Centre in Chepstow. Each days' dives will be a mixture of Constant Weight, Constant Weight No Fins and Free Immersion.

You need to choose which TWO disciplines you'd like to enter and tell us on your entry form. We'll make sure you only have to do one dive each day.

You CANNOT make both attempts in the same discipline. We'd like to see how multi-talented you are and PROMISE not to laugh if your no-fins reminds us of a washing machine (well, only a little...)

AIDA Judges - will be watching over you so you'll come home knowing just where in the AIDA world ranking your freedive skills sit! AIDA Judges and Medic are still be confirmed but judges will mostly likely be Sam Kirby, Steve Gardner and Matt Kitchen.

Prizes and Scoring - Prizes will be awarded to the top three men and women overall and to the best newbie. Scores will be weighted slightly so you don't lose out by trying Constant Weight No Fins. For Constant Weight and Free Immersion, you'll get 1 point for each metre. For Constant Weight No Fins, you'll get 1.3 points per metre.

The best newbie, as decided by the judges, will win a special prize. The judges will decide who this is awarded to, it will not be based purely on depths. (To qualify for the newbie prize you must have completed a beginner level freedive course within the last 18 months and not competed at an AIDA depth event before).

Programme - You will need to be at NDAC from 9 am on Saturday 25th until about 4pm on Sunday 26th. If that means you need to stay over, there are lots of places to stay listed here.

Medical - Every athlete has to have a fit-to-dive medical. This must have been signed by a physician within the last 12 months. Download the form here. If you don't have one, we can't let you compete - it's the rules!

Rules - talking of which, please make sure you are familiar with the AIDA Rules. Don't forget you'll need a competition standard lanyard. Either read the rules and buy your own - or let us do the hard work and buy one here.

Entry Fee - the entry fee is £75 for the two days (rising to £90 after 30 June as it's more a pain for us to deal with late entries!). All entries and payments must be received by 27 August 2010. You can pay by paypal on the right, by direct banking or by sending a cheque - details are on the entry form. If you would rather pay in installments, just ask.

Conditions and subscriptions - The water temperature will be about 17C on the surface, colder at depth and visibility about 5m. This may affect the depth you subscribe. Don't be afraid to choose a shallower depth than you might in a more exotic location.

Any other questions - drop us a mail!

We hope to see you there!
